Why I love to be a Florist

My clients are very particular with the kind of flowers I supply them with, thus I make sure that I keep an eye on their preferred arrangements. In my 10 years in the business, I have gotten to know a couple of people who love showering their loved ones with flowers. Thus, they are confident enough that I know the kind of flowers and arrangement whenever they place their orders.

Being a florist, I pride myself for being artistic. I don’t stop learning new and creative ways of flower arrangements. Apart from the beauty of the flowers, the arrangement itself is more important. I remember when I was still new in this business, a very demanding old man came in, and ordered a bouquet of white roses. He then started enumerating how he liked the flower arrangement to be done. I was polite, of course, but deep inside I was offended because I knew what I had to do. The same old man came to the shop every weekend to order the same bouquet of flowers. One day, he was in a good mood so we had a little chat. I then knew that his wife has been bedridden for a couple of years now. To somehow lift her mood, he often brings her flowers.

Just this afternoon, he passed by for his usual order. He was chuckling when he saw me so engrossed in a penny auction site. He said he opens the same site whenever he’s bored.
